It's Freezing

Last month our gas bill was $100 to keep the place at 67 degrees, so we turned the thermostat down to 60 degrees. You can bet that we wear long sleeves over here. Our landlord recently put in new windows, but unfortunately they are single pane windows (If you are going to put out money to install new window, then why not just put in double pane?). This week we went to Lowe's and bought 10 packages of this window film stuff. You put a double-sided tape all around the window and attach a plastic film to it. Then you use a hairdryer to shrink it, and it comes out clear and smooth. You are basically making a cheap double pane window. It seems to work really well. We are so excited that maybe next month we can turn the thermostat up to 64 degrees. Man, I miss Texas.

When we moved into our house, the previous owners did that and left it on the windows/surrounding walls. Removing it took all the paint off around the walls and naturally, those people took the paint with them. We still haven't gotten around to painting the walls so we think it just "adds" something. Um, what, we don't know. We've been here for a year and a half and it'll probably stay that way until we paint the house to sell it in a few years.

Being cold is the worst torture I can imagine. I'm a total baby about it. Your post makes my stomach hurt. MOVE TO CALIFORNIA! Or Dallas. But who wants chiggers?
