Dehydrating Maniac!

Hello! So, Jared always beats me to the posts--but I want to give detail on my new dehydrator!! I got it for my birthday from his mom and it's fun! It's also more work than I expected (I'll have to get more experience b/f building towers with the fruit). I dried apple and banana as my first runs, and they turned out okay. Jared really liked the banana chips. It take so long to dry stuff though (~10 hours!) So, tonight we're doing some more apples but a different way suggested to me---first pretreated in pineapple juice to stop the browning and then one side dipped in cinnamon sugar! I hope it's super delicious! This weekend we're trying to make jerky! And, on a down note--it DUMPED like 4 inches of snow today in our valley! ggrrr...it's days like this that I don't enjoy winter. It's supposed to continue through the weekend too. On a different note, a new charter school in Salem called me and I missed their call but hopefully I'll get an interview--I talked to them at a career fair at BYU and they've called--it's the closest I've come so far to a job! so, we'll see. Bye for now!

Good luck Melissa! You will find a great job... I know it. A company/school would be crazy not to hire you! :) And I thing the dehydrator is really neat! I remember eating banana chips when we were kids... in Colorado I think with Jenny Thorvaldson. :) I guess you were too little for that.

Oh by the way... I wasn't trying to guilt you into posting on your blog with my email. :) I was just curious since I know Jim doesn't post on ours :)

Melissa and Jared,

Your blog is really terrific! It is a fun way to see what you're doing, but it looks like a lot of effort is required. But we appreciate it! The dehydrator looks interesting, but also looks like a lot of work. Good luck with it, and also with Melissa's job search!
