At Dining Services, food is our business, and we have a lot of it. We have free donuts. We have fruit. We have candy. We have taste testing parties. All of the food is intended for Dining Services' employees and business guests. Unfortunately we are being overrun by hungry students. Either they are starving to death or they are the most audacious group of people that I have ever seen. We used to leave the donuts out at the front desk, so that any guest could help themselves. After a while, we notice that quite a few students who had no business in our office coming in to help themselves to one or ten donuts. One free donut once in a while is ok, but snagging ten donuts for a break from mowing the grass is a little unreasonable (especially on a daily basis). To avoid that, we simply put them in our kitchen. To get to the kitchen, you have to go through the conference room and then into it. That is far away enough to keep most of the hungries away, but there is this one particular girl. Let's call her donut-girl. I think that she is starving to death. Donut-girl goes after the donuts, no matter where they are, and she takes at least four. I'm always amazed that she can manage to hold that many in her hands, but she does. To discourage her, we hid the donuts in a box in the kitchen. That didn't deter donut-girl. She went into the kitchen without permission, took the stuff that was sitting on top of the box off, and lifted the lid, and proceeded to take four more donuts. At that point, Steve (my boss's boss) went after her to tell her that was not acceptable behavior. I'm a little worried, because she has not shown up today. I hope that Steve just scared her away, and that she isn't starving to death. Donut-girl, if you are starving to death come talk to me, and I'll get you a donut.

I wouldn't worry about her. If she's resourceful enough to find the donuts despite the obstacles, she can find other sources of food.
That's very true. Maybe I should bait a trap, and try and catch her...
Amazing! Like a mouse to cheese. How strange that she'd go through all that trouble for a couple lousy donuts! But I guess I can kind of understand since I'm faking triathlon training and just sitting at home eating donuts myself all day... It's a tough ruse to keep up but worth it for the custard centers
mmmmmmmmm.... donuts.......
