Most people who live in the normal world (ie not Provo, UT), probably went to work yesterday. Well, Melissa and I do live in that crazy state called Utah where Pioneer Day is bigger than the Fourth of July. With no work to go to, we started off the day by going fly fishing with Ben Parker and his brother Daniel. We had lots of fun, and I must admit that I am the worst fisherman of the lot. Everyone caught something except for me. Stupid fish. Fortunately we were able to take 3 brown trout and 1 brook trout home for dinner. Melissa doesn't really like fish, so I ate the biggest brown for dinner by myself. She had hamburgers.
We had a big neighborhood party in our backyard. A big thank you goes out to Nathan and Kate Harris for putting that all together. It was a big success, and we had lots of fun. After dinner, we played with fireworks, and no one had to go to the hospital. I guess that means fireworks were a big success, too.
Then everyone watched a movie on the side of the duplex. By then Melissa and I were tired (a sure sign that we are getting old), so we skipped it. All and all, I have to say that we had a really fun day. It was much better than having to go into work, which is why today is turning out to be a really, really, really long day.
