In the upcoming days I will update everyone on the marvelous adventures we had in the high Uintahs, but today I just have to tell a story about Ella. She is the Cook's black Lab that came with us on the backpacking trip. On Monday night we were enjoying a lot of fine fishing. We caught about 28 fish that night. Then while I was releasing the latest catch, Ella decided that she wanted to know what it was like to be a fish, so she swallowed the hook. We cut the line, and pried her jaw open, but to no avail. We could not find the hook. We ended up coming home early to take her to the vet. There they did X-rays and found the hook in her stomach. Fishing hooks are designed to disolve in 2 weeks in water, so the stomach acid might make quick work of the hook. If not, then Ella will just pass the hook. The vet said that they had seen a dog pass a three-pronged hook before and that it shouldn't be to big of a problem.
