I believe that the baby-accessory companies and the battery companies are secretly (perhaps not so secretly) working together! This is why: before our baby, you might have found a few stray AA batteries, maybe a couple AAA batteries lying around our house--leftovers of packages bought to supply batteries to our 2 remote controls. That's about it. Along comes baby, and along comes a million things that require a million batteries. Not only does every toy or accessory require a battery, they each require multiple batteries and each a different kind!! I've got a monitor that takes a 9-V, a bouncer that takes C, a swing that eats through 4 D batteries fairly quickly, and a crib vibrator/soother that takes both 4 AA and 4 C batteries!! And, batteries are expensive. So, now I've got a little drawer just dedicated to my extra batteries because we can't risk one of these items not working! I do think everyone is in on it--making me buy tons of batteries, making sure there's always a type of battery I don't have on hand, it's all a conspiracy!

Yup- definitely not a secret conspiracy- they are just shamelessly busy exploiting the desperations of parenthood!! I would say fight it... but we all know those battery powered things are too necessary!
(4AA and C batteries? I hope that crib thing runs forever between changes! Does it help Lindsey fall asleep or what?)
it does help her sleep. it vibrates, plays music or a heartbeat or cricket/bird chirping noises and has a small nightlight and can be set to activate when she makes noise. it's very nice--but does eat through quite a few batteries :-)it's worth it though
neat! we had a white noise generator that we used with Logan that ate batteries as well.... we almost invested in a vibrating one that vibrated the crib and made the noise like being on the inside of a car going 50 mph. I hear I might get to see you in sunny CA, I hope so... otherwise I will be the only one this summer that doesn't get to see you and beautiful Lindsey. I would be so sad and miss you guys! I hope Ryan gets back in time for them to come out for her blessing- that would be neat! Luv ya!
I definitely believe in this conspiracy and I think rechargeable batteries are just a crock. I've been beating Katie's crib toy almost senseless lately trying to squeeze the last bits of juice out of the batteries. She thinks it's entertaining that way too.
