Tag-I'm finally it

So-I can't imagine being able to come up with anything worth reading for this-but my sis-in-law is gently reminding me that she did tag me, so here goes:

(BTW: i started this post like a week ago, couldn't think of stuff, and now remembered to finish it!)

10 Years Ago I Was: Only 14 years old! Let's see-I'm not sure what exactly I was doing. Oh yes-I was finishing up 8th grade-thank goodness! I absolutely abhorred my junior high school. It was not a good school! gosh-if i had my journals out (and not in storage with all our junk) i'd look up exactly what was going on b/c I kept a thorough journal. I guess the neighborhood pool just opened and I remember spending my days there with my friend, Rachel. being scared to death about starting high school in the fall, but also excited.

5 Things on My To-Do List Today: Since I'm writing this at night, I'll do 5 things that WERE on my list: 1. go running (3.04 miles-check! I only ran that far in my daily desperate attempt to get my baby to take a short morning nap-which she did not do, so we drove around for 30minutes before going to a friend's house to play Rock Band-an awesome video game).

2. Talk to a friend about our joint FHE plans for next Monday (unaccomplished).

3. Buy cough/pain med for baby who is cutting 3 teeth, has a nasty cough, and a drippy nose-CHECK (like the first thing I did of course)!!

4. clean out car-I don't know why but our car just accumulates junk-unaccomplished.

5. reorganize/rotate L's toys-I keep some upstairs more out of sight and some downstairs for daily play-rotating is my attempt to keep her satisfied and quietly playing by herself-it does okay.

Things I Would Do If I Became a Billionaire: Pay off all debt, buy our dream ranch house and animals to accompany-including our milk cow, a couple horses, a cute pig, geese, chickens, and a rooster-oh, and some goats (maybe fainting ones just for the fun), put aside enough for retirement/missions, save for L's education, help family members pay off debt, get some clothes and stuff (i have the hardest time buying stuff-i try on and try on clothes but end up just leaving empty-handed..grrr...), donate to the LDS church (lots and lots), go on a cruise-buy a beautiful grand piano, hmm...and everything else fun with the extra money!

5 of My Secret Bad Habits: I can't really think of any-I must be in denial... well,

1. I'm extremely extremely indecisive! It's awful really-it drives Jared crazy, it drives me crazy! I'm really working on it-and have made a lot of progress, but then it'll just hit me at the most random times--like, in a drive-thru window where I sit and sit and no words will come out of my mouth b/c I can't decide what flavor blizzard I want....it's a big weakness of mine!

2. I guess this counts as a habit b/c I've done it multiple times, but I don't try to--locking my keys in the car. I don't know what happens--I've done it probably almost 10 times in the last 4 years! I just did it last week! I even used to do it in HS-but then I'd use a wire hanger to jimmy it open-there's a skill! I did the same thing with me and jared's car in UT, and I've had to call a locksmith TOO MANY times! Jared said (after last week) we should make a key copy and put it in a secret pocket in the diaper bag b/c I always have that with me. Once, in UT, I locked the keys in the car when J and I were on a date and had to walk home all the way across town to get our other key and walk back! not the evening I was planning on-i think i might've cried :)

3. Trying to mind-read. I'm so bad about this-always reading into situations WAY TOO MUCH! Figuring out what someone is thinking or feeling about me, or something I did, and drawing conclusions about what it must mean-like, an extreme ongoing case of "he hasn't called. why didn't he call? he must not love me. he must be out with another girl! aaah!" in every situation.

(i'm not sure i enjoy trying to come up with 5 bad habits-

before i was in a peaceful state of denial...)

4. clenching my jaw/grinding my teeth. all my dentists comment about the wear on my teeth. i have tried to kick this habit a lot. but-i find myself doing it without even knowing. oh well-then i can just get a pretty, white, set of dentures when i'm old, right?

5. giving into my weakness and eating sweets/desserts way too much. they are almost irrisistable for me-it's a serious addiction. i actually heard once that sugar is more addictive than cocaine...i believe it!! i'm doing a little better though after my 'no dessert' month last month-i learned i CAN not eat something, i DON"T need it now, and i WILL feel better by resisting!

"whew-there's five"

5 Places I've Lived:

1. Longmont, CO (birth to almost 2 years)

2. Austin, TX-northwest to be exact-2 years till 18 years and I loved it!

3. Provo, UT while attending BYU-where I met Jared, had Lindsey, graduated, made friends, had a real job--good times

4. Anderson Island, WA- a LITTLE island in the Puget Sound, just for the summer of '03 with my brother and his family-it was AWESOME! It is so beautiful up there, and the coasts are full of star fish, jelly fish, all sorts of life! and getting to ride the ferry in and out of town, it was the most peaceful place i've ever been.-I LOVED IT!! Thanks bro for the opportunity!

5. Arizona wilderness-two months during spring of '99 I believe. At a wilderness survival camp. pretty cool.

5 Jobs I've Had: (not chronological order, but the order they came to in my head)

1. Babysitter/nanny-main job to earn money through high school

2. Food worker at BYU cafeterias including Morris Center, Wilk, and MTC

3. Sales Associate at Hancock Fabrics for a summer. I actually really enjoyed working there and seeing all the fun fabrics and crafts and getting free patterns and stuff. It was cool! Learned about a lot of different sewing stuff and fabrics. the cash register wasn't exhilerating but the floor was fun-getting to help people find stuff, learning about their projects, dreaming of my own...

4. well-it wasn't a paying job-just for school, but I was a research assistant for a prof. at BYU helping to extract DNA and run some tests on it from some mice in Mexico-by far the coolest thing I've ever done and would love to do again.

5. Math teacher-Heritage Schools (Residential Center for troubled youth). This was after I graudated for a year b/f I had Lindsey. It was really fun-even though I majored in Biology-for teaching I would rather teach math. loved it-except the boys were a bit much to handle, but I love math!

5 Things That Most People Don't Know About Me :

1. I am currently learning Portuguese (brazilian) and will someday in the near future be fluent so J and I can speak it in our home. I got a Rosetta Stone program for my bday.

2. I love gymnastics and always wanted to be an Olympic gymnast. I am trying to let go of the lost dream and blame it on my gymnastics 'coach' (some high school kid) who always commented about how tall I was and how i'd be harder to spot even though I was like the best in my class, and i was so self-concious I dropped out! who knows-I could've been a star! so, someday I hope to get to take an adult gymnastics class.

3. I am the opposite of a party pooper (to quote my mom-in-law). I am very enthusiastic about lots of stuff-I think everything should be enjoyed. A good meal, a good game, a good holiday-all of it! So, my mom-in-law says I'm the best person to have around for occasions like that.

4. I can play the bass guitar (beginner level) and I learned in high school when I played for my school's 'praise team'! It was awesome! oh-i went to a private christian high school-the praise team played every week at 'chapel' (devotional time) and special occasions.

5. I have recently gotten into letter-boxing. It's fun and interesting. Kind of like geo-caching but without a gps unit. It's cool! check it out at http://www.letterboxing.com/ or http://www.atlasquest.com/

I tag: my hubby, my dad, umm...and everyone else who reads my blog who didn't first tag me-that should hopefully be about 5 more people :-)

Fun stuff!
Thanks for planning to pay off all Mom and my bills. And while it might be proven that your 5th bad habit comes from me, I claim that the others must come from the other side of the family. And go for the gymnastics! That would be pretty neat.
And one more thing. I didn't have time to read the entire post so I had to quit before the last paragraph. Was there anything in there pertinent?

hahaha, you know what? I've kind of actually noticed the movement of teeth grinding/clenching when we talk.

My aunt did it a lot too, except she'd grind REALLY LOUD and I'd be like - you want some gum, tia? (and I'd silently be thinking, please take it please take it please take it) lol

This post looks oddly reminiscent of an emaaaaiiillll. :D

Joel & I would love to have some land and farm animals too someday. We'll have to look for some cute pigs & fainting goats. :) This was really fun to read, Mel. Thanks for answering the tag!
