Don't Forget!

So, Ike was a couple weeks ago now I guess, but it is FAR from being over. I know the rest for the rest of you, updates probably stop to replace your local news, so here's a look at ours.

People still without power(maybe 500,000 still?)

Galveston Island is opening to residents to go on tomorrow I believe. First time they've been allowed home. Power and water are still out there. Few gas stations are open. These people's lives are still in dissaray.

Misquito populations have skyrocketed due to all the standing water. It's awful! 6 people have gotten West Nile Virus.

We haven't had church meetings in 2 weeks because our church is out of power (Jared's brother, Nathan, was happy because he didn't have to talk-he's now in the MTC). Also, the steeple broke off and impaled itself firmly upside down in the ground. I might have to drive by and see that :)

Schools in a lot of areas just resumed classes this week-some are still out.

So, for us, life is slowly returning to normal. But you don't forget what happened. Everyone has dead trees or other debris sitting on their curb-waiting to be picked up-it will be a while yet though.

So, hope everyone else is fairing well. And by the way, Lindsey is SOOO cute at a week shy of 18 months. This sunday is nursery!!! yea!! (although I won't know the difference b/c I play the piano in primary!)

Wow, what a photo! What power that Ike had! Keep us posted on how fast everything gets done. I understand there are linemen from lots of states there to help.

I agree with Mom: it's amazing to experience or witness the powers of nature.

I tried to forward you an email someone sent me with a whole bunch of pictures in it from the storm, but it was sent back undelivered. It was about 6 meg, so perhaps the file size was too big. But the devastation looked incredible! Glad you are all safe!
