Ike Prep

An eerie feeling is in the air today. The calm before the storm. As we prepare for hurricane Ike to make landfall, the wheels are turning. Traffic is heavy. By 9am this morning the gas station lines were all 2-3 cars deep. The grocery stores are out of carts b/c they're all being used (interestingly enough, according to my mom-in-law, people are stocking up on the necessities of beer and chips). Today was a beautiful day, but it's a strange anxiety in the background. It made me realize something else too-to draw another level in: All week we heard it was coming and you think "I should get ready..but it's not for a few days. I have time" suddenly, it is the eve of the storm and there IS no time. Preparation time is out. If you don't have food storage/water storage it's hard to build up in one day. Like life, "yes, judgment will come, the end will come. but there's time" I think it will be the same feeling-there will suddenly NOT be time! And what an awful pit in your stomach when you realize you CAN"T do all the things you KNOW you should have done before. So, let this be a lesson-GET PREPARED!!!
wish us luck :)
ever wonder how a hurricane starts? check it out!

Good thoughts! It's exciting to see the power of hurricanes as long as you stay dry. Hope your power stays on!
