Okay, I had my own personal protest yesterday-some of you may not agree with it, but I totally felt empowered and in control of my own life!
I went to get my eyebrows waxed which I do (not as often as I should). In the past I have tipped b/c that's what I hear you do (same with mani/pedi right?) anyway, the last time I tipped it made me angry b/c I wasn't completely satisfied-I had to go home and get my tweezers out for strays she missed, and she made a comment that made me angry! So, this time, I told myself I would only tip if I could look in the mirror and know I wouldn't have to fix anything etc... Well, first, the lady spoke SO LITTLE english I couldn't even understand the phrase "6 dollar"!! So, that is just a little frustrating (but not grounds for not tipping yet). **don't forget I'm 39 weeks prego and not feeling beautiful all the time** Then, she says "eyebrows and lips?" and I said "no, just eyebrows" and she said "Are you sure?!?! cause you got lot of hair on lips!!" okay, I totally felt insulted. I have noticed the hair is a little more prevelant than I remember having, but it's COMPLETELY blond and can only see it from less than 6 inches away! anyway, that irritated me. Then, she laughed at me when my face twitched once! I'm sorry I can't control very well my reflexes when you're pulling hair off my face!! (tell me I'm not the only one with this problem!)Then, when she was done and I looked in the mirror, it was okay, and I noticed a few stray hairs yet again but couldn't tell her b/c she didn't speak english. So, I didn't tip. It was not a happy experience. I think she was a little put-out b/c she kept standing and waiting b/f I left, but I didn't care. I FELT GOOD! Tips should NOT be obligatory! Tips are for a job WELL DONE!!
Okay, to lighten the mood on the blog, check out this video about nail salons. It's funny-and totally true! see? I'm not the only one with issues at the salon!
Okay, couldn't get the video to post or link to work, so search for "Anjelah Johnson Nail Salon Skit" on youtube.com and watch it!
