Family visit

We've been rather sad since my sister, Julie, and her family moved from San Antonio to CA. No one to go visit close by, no cousins to hang out with. So, we were thrilled when Julie got an internship this summer in San Antonio-she managed to sneak away for a quick weekend visit to us and we were very grateful!! (Unfortunately, Uncle Jim couldn't come :( Maybe next time!) Logan's request was to see an alligator and we've got a great state park for that-Brazos Bend. However, since it is the middle of Houston summer the gators tend to stay hidden because of the heat. Well, we got there as early as we could and started our searching.

We found birds.

We found a lot of little frogs...look reeally hard :) all the little bumps in the green stuff are frogs-you can see one in the bottom right quadrant. These little guys were so light they just sat on top of the water and green junk.

We found a dung beetle (only identifiable because he was busy rolling dung!)

Noah had to take a break to eat in the car, then he felt much better.

It wasn't looking good for gator spotting...when finally, at our last stop on our hike, we found one!
Thanks for the appearance!

Gator spotting after some hot hiking made for a happy group.

 Yay for the gator!

We had to drive to a different parking lot to visit the nature center and Jared accidentally hit this snake in the road. Seth and Logan moved it off into the grass.

At the center they had baby alligators to pet...

...and a snake too!

It was a great day! We spent the rest of the weekend just spending time together at home.

Love visiting with family!!
