Congratulations to Robert Noonan

Well, one of my best friends Robert emailed me to let me know that he is getting married! Super congrats to Robert, and a big thank you to his new fiance Christine for taking him. Plus Robert got a new job, working for a government contractor on nuclear non-proliferation. They are going to pay for his school. Right now they are apartment hunting, so the future is looking good for Robert.

For those of you who don't know Robert, he and I joined the Navy together and we were roommates in college before I got married. We went on a road trip to Oregon on the which we each managed to get a speeding ticket. Mine I deserved, but Robert's was for going 70 on a 65 mph freeway. I personally think that highway patrolman was having a bad day (bad as in a tornado destroyed his house, he declared bankrupcy, his dog bit him, his cat bit him, both the cat and the dog died, he got divorce papers, and just got notice that he would be layed off from work ALL IN THE SAME DAY type of bad day).

Jim got an undeserved ticket once. There was an officer in the left lane. JIm put on his blinker, looked over his shoulder, and proceeded to changes lanes. He could see the cop car in his rear view window and had plenty of room. Officer immediately pulled him over for unsafe lane change, but couldn't tell Jim exactly what he did wrong. Jim pressed him like 4 times and the officer finally said "I shouldn't have to take evasive action by braking and swerving." Jim says "You didn't have to, so what did I do wrong" and this cop only repeated that it was an illegal lane change. I think he must have had a day similar to the officer that gave your buddy a ticket! Or some power trip or something... :)
