A different kind of graduation

Today I graduated!! Not from college (YET!!) but from crutches! After learning there was not threat of a bone fragment, I have started trying to get my strength and flexibility back slowly. Went to physical therapy this morning and learned some good (but painful) exercises and stretches to do. It's amazing how fast an injury can take away normal flexibility. I can hardly stand in a lunge with my feet more than 1-2 feet apart b/c I have no flexibility in my Achilles tendon and surrounding stuff. Try it--it shouldn't be that difficult right? so, it's kinda a bummer--but it'll come back. So, I'm getting around with a cane now--I feel a little more embarrassed than when I was on crutches but it's sooo much easier!! Plus--it's a good humbling experience right? So, thanks to all for the care/concern!

Canes are awesome! See if you can get some pink tassles (a la training wheels bike) to put on the top. Then you could pimp it out with some glue-on rhinestones and racing stripes. I'm so jealous!

My baby is using a cane - that sounds pretty strange. If the PT doesn't kill you, it actually will make you stronger; but sometimes it hurts to get back the strength and flexibility. The Marines have a saying for you: "Pain is weakness leaving the body."
Take care! And you can bean anyone who tries to mug you!
