It's Almost Laughable...
ALMOST. I actually did laugh when I came home from a playdate and a strange man approached me informing me that the 4-plex building we live in was now a foreclosure and we would shortly be receiving an eviction notice giving us 30 days to get out. I asked him if he was kidding-he wasn't. I called the bank to confirm and confirm they did-the building was foreclosed on on the 5th of this month. So, I'm thinking we've got less than 90 days with a 95% probability that we'll have to move. oohh--my irriation has only been building each day that passes. We JUST got settled in. And, there is no better choice of living. Everything else in out of our ward boundaries, farther from family and farther from work (Jared can come home for lunch everyday right now). grrrr...and I DETEST packing. boxes and boxes...always more boxes than you think. I still can't believe it. what are the chances?? well, on the up side I'm pretty sure we have a mouse in our house and I guess now I don't have to call an exterminator and pay for/deal with that. see? there is a silver lining.

Oh my gosh! How sad! (and somewhat crazy!) If you need help packing or anything, let me know!
That is the worst thing I've ever heard. You guys JUST moved! I thought we had it bad... we'll probably have to move in six months when Garrit goes to grad school. Ugg.
I am so sorry. I wish I could fly out there and help you. Good luck. Let us all know what happens.
question. But, since it's in foreclosure, and the housing market sucks right now. Why don't you offer to buy it from the bank for the amount owed the bank?
I second what my hubby said...and also wonder...why would they evict good paying renters when whoever buys the place will have to put someone else BACK in the unit? Unless they're planning on tearing the place down, it doesn't seem smart to evict a good source of income.
they evict b/c right now the bank owns it and they don't want to be landlords--it's just what they do. and buying it would be a good idea if it wasn't such a dump... (besides the rat problem i'm pretty sure we have a slow pipe leak now...maybe it's a good thing we're getting out now.)
I don't want to buy it, because of the 4 apartments, only two are filled, and we are the only ones who actually pay rent on time. Also one of the apartments is currently being used for storage and would require extnesive remodeling to make it rentable.
