Well, I have registered for the Top of Utah Marathon, so now I am committed to doing this. Saturday I had my longest run yet of 7.2 miles. I still have a long way to go, but it felt great to finish at least 1/4 of a marathon. The big race day is September 23. Right now my biggest problem is hydration. My body is needing water during my longer runs. Melissa is suggesting a camel pack which would be great, but they are kind of expensive. Any suggestions out there?

Awsome! I am jealous and impressed all at the same time. Check out other brands besides Camelback. There are less expensive brands, as well as different sizes so you can get one that fits your budget better. :)
I will hunt down the brand that I am more familiar with if I have time :)
Way to go, Jared! Wish I could run/walk it with you.
Way to go, Jared! (I echo California Mom's comment thus far, but no further) But you have my admiration and best wishes for success. Keep us informed of your training and progress. And instead of a camelback, maybe you just need supporters stationed every mile or so with the little cups of water that you can grab. So now all you need is 26 supporters willing to stand along your training route.
Registering is a big step! I still haven't registered for my tri because of all the last minute injury stories I hear but maybe I'm subconsiously looking for an excuse out. 7+ miles is a long way to run. I've never done more than 4 and it kicked my rear. Be careful not to overtrain like I keep doing. Thanks for all the helpful tips you give me too!
