Another Post Today...

So, check out the next four or so posts, I finally got them up and they just went up all today b/c it was easiest. This one is about... INSPIRATION .........

My brother-in-law, Jim (sister's hubby-hope you don't mind me mentioning you!), observes Lent, and this year we visited them during it and I learned he gave up desserts (or sugar, not sure the detail) and I think he did that before too, so anyway, YOU INSPIRED ME JIM!!! I decided that, being the sugar addict I am, and wanting NOT to be and wanting to have that feeling of self-control you gain by being in control, APRIL IS MY NO-DESSERT MONTH!! So far, day two--I've passed up multiple things including:

Chocolate from France brought home by father-in-law
Toblerone bar bought by hubby
Cupcakes left over from L's birthday party
Giant cookies/dessert muffins from a bakery I stopped at on my way to the temple

So, so far, so good! now, this is not a no-sugar thing b/c i'd go crazy. just dessert-type things. and it's all up to my judgment so i won't accept any judging from you if i eat something you deem a dessert :-) you can judge me as soon as you are doing a no-dessert month! anyway, wish me luck!

FYI: if you want something to give up and gain that feeling of self-control, I believe the third week this month is 'National Turn Off the TV Week'! Conquer yourself!

Give up sugar? I don't think I could ever do that...I would probably die if I ever became diabetic. Besides, look at that huge cupcake! How can anyone say no to it? "Eat me! Eat me!" I can hear it all the way from here. Poor cupcake.

If you eat it first at the meal, does it still count as dessert?

Okay, at Logan's music class this week we had home made fresh thick frosted sugar cookies. I sat next to them and yet restrained myself. So, thanks again for the motivation!!!!

Mel, you are amazing. I *know* how hard this will be for you! But you can do it - thinking of the race you were just in, I'd say you can do whatever you put your mind to. You inspire me, too.

Last night I read in You: Staying Young how sugar causes inflammation of the arterial lining, almost like little tiny knicks that keep the vessel lining constantly trying to repair itself. It would be so much better to cut out all the sugar, especially if heart disease runs in the family like it does in the Murdocks.
