Okay, Melissa and I have a stalker, and it really isn't very fun. Everyday someone calls and then when we pick up the phone, there is silence. It happens all the time, and it is really annoying. I finally got tired and called back the number that the caller ID displayed. I was quite surprised when the person on the other line said, "Thank you for calling Qwest. How may we help you?" Okay, we don't really like Qwest, but they are the only company that we can get both our internet and phone from, so we put up with them. They must really like us, because they call us every single day. I asked the guy to have Qwest stop calling us. He had the audacity to say that it would take up to 45 days before our number could be removed from the list and until then too bad. He went on to say that since we were a client, they had a legal right to call us. He also told me that we could not file a complaint for at least 30 days. I ended that call, and I filed a complaint online against Qwest stating that they were intimidating my family and me with their persistent phone calls with no one answering. We told them that unless they stopped their harassing phone calls we would contact the Attorney General, the Police Department, and the Better Business Bureau. I've decided that if they call us back and hang up or don't answer, then I'm going to call Qwest, and tell them that someone keeps calling and hanging up and that I would like for them to trace the call, and record all phone calls from that number for us. What do you do when the phone company just won't leave you alone?

That is too creepy! Did you get that guy's name?
So weird (but great animated stalker). Did they say WHY they were calling everyday? Can you block the number? I can't believe the guy said you had to wait 30 days to file a complaint - glad you did it anyway. I guess some Qwester saw your blog and just couldn't keep from calling
Today, I got an email from Qwest apologizing for the persistant phone calls. They promised that it wouldn't happen again, and gave me a number and complaint reference number in case it does happen. Last night was the first night without the hangup phone call, and it was great. No I didn't get the guy's name, but I wish I had. I'm not sure if you can block the phone company's number. I should try.
